OHB System is one of the major large space system integrators in Europe with considerable heritage in manned and unmanned space missions. It belongs to the listed high-tech group OHB SE, where around 2,500 specialists and executives work on key European space programs. With two strong German sites and more than three decades of experience, OHB System specializes in high-tech solutions for space, science and industry. OHB covers the entire scope of applications: Telecommunications, Earth Observation, Reconnaissance, Navigation and Security, Science and Human Spaceflight, with a core business comprising LEO, MEO and GEO satellites.

In addition, OHB has built extensive expertise in development of optical payloads as well as payloads for scientific and human spaceflight and infrastructure development.

The Quantum Technology (QT) efforts within OHB are bundled in a working group, consolidating the company’s long-standing expertise in this area. The working group is formed by experts with a background in quantum optics and colleagues from relevant departments (Predevelopment, Systems Engineering, Business Development).

The identified high-level topics covered by OHB are Quantum Communication including QKD, Quantum Sensors, Optical Space Clocks and Frequency Combs. 

OHB is a major partner in the realization of quantum space missions, aiming to transfer European research into the technology of tomorrow. By understanding the scientific use cases and at the same time providing a profound knowledge on the industrial side and insights into the current space flight market, we are able to bridge the gap between science and industry in current and future missions.
