First QTSpace Conference and WG Meeting
26 – 31 March 2017, Valletta – Malta
The first conference of COST Action QTSPACE was held in Malta at the end of March. 80 people attended the event, which included several invited speakers and contributed talks, well-attended poster sessions, and many hours dedicated to roadmapping. The results of the roadmapping discussions will be summarised and made accessible publicly. Three prizes, sponsored by the European Physical Journal on Quantum Technology, were given to the two best posters (Kjetil Børjke and André Wenzlawski) and the best contributed talk (Aline Dinkelaker).
WG3 meeting: Proof-of-principle experiments
02 – 08 July 2017, Arcachon – France
The WG meeting will be in parallel to the conference ICOLS2017, which brings together world leading experts in AMO physics and spectroscopy – many of them relevant for quantum technologies in space. We will fund about 2 invited speakers and further 8 participants on QTSpace relevant topics; the other speakers will be chosen among participants to ICOLS. A round table discussion on the WG3 topic [proof of principle experiment for QTSpace] will be organised, open also to ICOLS participants.
Lisbon Training Workshop on Quantum Technology in Space
11 – 14 September 2017, Lisbon – Portugal
The training workshop will cover topics of the complete COST action QTSpace with a focus on input from space industry and space agencies in order to train participants in the context of space technology and terminology. The morning sessions will consist of training sessions consisting of pedagogic talks as well as hands-on training in the spirit of a summer school but of potential interest to all participants. The afternoon sessions will be a scientific workshop where speakers will include representatives of the European Space Agency, from space industry as well as scientific talks from the scientific communities participating in the action: (1) quantum communication, (2) atom interferometry, (3) atomic clocks, and (4) quantum optomechanics and high-mass matter-wave interferometry. Registration is open until the 7th of June, 2017. Poster contributions are welcome, and there will be the opportunity for companies to present their work and products. Second call for STSMs now open
Deadline: 30th June 2017
The second call for Short Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) is now open. STSMs aim at supporting the exchange of people within COST countires. Scientists interested in Quantum Technologies in Space, in particular junior researchers, are encouraged to apply. Information is available on the QTSpace website, under mobility.
