ESA announces the “New Sciences Ideas”

Following a call launched on 6 February 2016, and a selection process, ESA has announced three novel ideas for science exploration in space, to be further scrutinized in the future years. Among them, there is quantum physics “with a focus on the boundaries of and relationship between quantum and classical physics, in particular investigating the aspect known as quantum decoherence”.

Two Postdoctoral Research Positions In Quantum Thermodynamics

Applications are being accepted for two postdoctoral research positions in the Quantum Enabling System Technologies (QuEST) group ( of Professor Ozgur E. Mustecaplioglu at Koc University. Both positions will primarily involve theoretical studies of quantum thermodynamical properties of systems for specific applications.

ACES Workshop: Fundamental and applied science with clocks and cold atoms in space

University Zurich (Switzerland): June 29 & 30, 2017. The colloquium will bring together the scientific community interested in the results of ACES/PHARAO in all domains, from theoretical physics to cold atoms and application in geodesy and atmospheric studies. It will consist of invited and contributed presentations on the details of ACES, data analysis and scientific applications.
