Focus session “Quantum Physics in Space”

Place:
Noordwijk (The Netherlands)
Date:
November 21, 2018

In the context of future space-based experiments using macrosopic quantum systems for testing the foundations of quantum physics, this focus session is dedicated to the state of the art in ground-based experiments, potential future experiments and the case for space of those efforts. We will have four leading scientists to report on levitated optomechanics and cantilever experiments as test beds for fundamental theories such as quantum mechanics and gravity, as well as on theory proposals for such experimental tests. The final talk will emphasise the need for space for macroscopic quantum experiments.
